I almost posted this in the Bugs forum with a title of Bug in the System but I figured it would get moved ... and since I cant really find anywhere to put this to be certain it will get the proper attention Ill just put it here and hope for the best.

anyway on the the issue

I was in Game Stop recently to purchase Nightfall and I found it on the shelf and picked it up to look at it and discovered it to have been cut open (cut right through the do not purchase this if this package is opened) and they had left all the paperwork inside the box Including the Key. I thought to myself I could just grab that and walk out with free nightfall. Of course I desided against this (and can show where I purchased 2 copies via Game stop online) and realized that this could easily be done by others and then wouldn't someone be upset to buy the one off the shelf with no key.

I spoke to the manager and tried to explain to him that about the strict policy of guild wars to never buy an opened package. I also attempted to explain to him that the CD's were virtually worthless as the entire game could be downloaded to your computer for free. and that the cd key was the most important item in the box. he continually insisted that it wouldn't do any good with out the cd's and he assured me that I was incorrect in my statements.

I counted speaking to this manager as a lost cause and went home and called customer service via the number listed on their website. I reached a standard Customer Service Rep, who shared the same exact opinion as the manager of the store (that I was mistaken and no game on the market would function in the way I described) so I tried moving up the chain a bit and got that persons manager who basically informed me that I was wrong and if I wanted to pursue this farther I should take it up with the district manager as they can make the decision to not have a store open a package or not.

At that point I gave up and desided to come here and post with the hopes of getting the attention of someone in charge who might be able to do more about this than I.

Yeah.... um... have they ever played any MMO's? I got FFXII at a gamestop and the box for that was open too, with the codes still in it and everything. Are they really that retarded? It's called DOWNLOADING THE CLIENT.

Well then, I guess all of those times that I got a new computer or reformatted and just downloaded the client from the website, I was absolutely out of my mind.

The only requirements to play Guild Wars are;

*An account key
*A suitable computer that meets the minimum system specs, including the 56k dialup internet connection or better

With the above, an individual can, at any time, download from the following page, or other appropriate site for different lingual regions;

In order to stream all necessary content to play.

This is the basis for one of the forms of purchase on plaync, as seen here, with other available Guild Wars products as well.

If individuals in a business can not be bothered to address a complaint with a minimal amount of research, which would verify that it is indeed a valid concern... Then it's unfortunate, but that's the way it is. It's both the blessing and the boon of the advancements of modern technology, isn't it? That keeping up with recent developements can be quite difficult.

@OP - try reporting the Game Stop issue to PlayNC. They would be the most concerned about a store violating their vendor rules.

Yea, taking it to PlayNC seems like a good idea!

And maybe even keep on calling that district manager in order to tell him that his people are not telling the truth

I mean, with that education they must have, some must eventually have the brains to admit a mistake..
